Long day at work. Tired.
Nevertheless, beer must be imbibed! Tänään juomme kotimaista lajiketta: Viikinkien voimaolut Harald, suomalaisella hunajalla kruunattu täysmallaolut. This is a beer made for the Viking-themed restaurant chain Harald, a great place to visit, eat well and drink few hornfulls of beer/mead. This bottled one is slightly honeyed lager, fairly malty with a hint of citrus. It's drinkable, but not a great beer by any means. The small Åland brewery Stallhagen brews this one as they do the somewhat more interesting drafy beers at the restautants. The cinnamon beer is especially favoured by visiting fen.
Finnish beer, Finnish book. Juri Nummelinin Jumalten tuho on reipas otteinen fantasia-pulp, jossa alakerrasta pakoon päässyt Jeesuksen kaksoiveli tulee maan päälle, aikomuksenaan kylvää tuhoa ja turmellusta. Forssassa.
nimigalleria on tuollainen!" Good little pulp about the evil twin of Jesus wrecking havoc and mayhem in Forssa, Finland.
SInce I've been choosing Finnsih things, I may have to choose a Finnish film as well. And since the only Finnish film I remember seeing this year is Iron Sky, that'll have to do. Now.
I like the idea. I like the people behind the production. I like the special effects. The movie itself? It coud be worse. But it also could be so much better. I'm afraid I'm one of those people, who think that this is a bit of a wasted opportunity, in a sense that it really could've been SO much better, sharper, more poignant, funnier and so on. I like the ending with its pathos, but even that could've been a bit more biting.
Now, the characters are great, there's a lot to like and I laughed more than any Kermodian Rule of Humorous Films dictates. As a matter of fact, I think I might be somewhat close to what His Kermodianess said: It's OK, just what the label says, nothing more, nothing less. Good-looking romp, with a heart of gold and level of satire that cannot exist in many US-films. And I like the fact that I catched many of the easter eggs in my only viewing of the film. I may have to see this again. But still, not as good as I hoped for.
Aargh, a Finnish song. I won't choose my all-time favourite, Noitalinna Huraa!'s Pikkuveli, but something equally sad and melancholy: Haistakaa kukkanen, Pikku Kakkonen!
