It's the three-day weekend, due to tomorrow being the 4th of July, I mean, the 6th of December. And right about time to start having these extra days off again, last one was in June. Two more weeks and I'll be taking the rest of the year off from the 19th. Back in 2020.
My beverage of the day is Aloha, a guava passion fruit sour. It's well OK, sour and fruity, just what the doctor ordered. Apparenly from NZ, so all you people heading for ConZealand next year, this could be on tap there. I believe this one is tartier than the one I had on the 1st Dec. Also probly more expensive, since import. Very nice.
It's been a long year with all kinds of stuff happening. I seem to be slipping away from things. Fannish things. I haven't been to mafia meetings lately, well for couple of years really, and fandom acitivity seems to be ebbing and flowing with a pattern that seems to point toward zero by the not-too-distant future.
I still love fandom, look forward to a number of things happening next year, even doing some classic stuff not done for years (just you wait for Finncon in Tampere!) and interacting with people in various ways, none more so than our Tähtivaeltaja podcast. Which has been a real life-saver, so THANKS A LOT, Aleksi!
I've been talking with some professionals and I think I know what I need to do, but the change needs to come from me, from within and with a conviction. Not just fandom stuff, but everything. It's a process. It takes time. Can't be rushed.
In other news: my Spotify wrap-up for 2019 came, and apparently I've been listening mostly Simple Minds, David Sylvian (and Japan), Bryan Ferry, ABC, Talk Talk and, as my "latest" finds, Heilung and Marsheaux. That's nice, and somewhat safe. May I listen to more new and diverse music next year. It's just that I Spotify did some changes at some poin and I lost all those wonderful "personalized mixes" they used to have. Probably happened when I was listening to very little music, and thus Spotify. Which is stoopid, since I pay for it. I've been a Premium member since 2011, which means I've spent nearly a cool grand of euros for my listening pleasure. That's a fair number of zeroes and ones, instead of hard copies.
Here's one tune that I seem to have been playing quite a lot from Marsheaux. This Greek duo remade Depeche Mode's 2nd album A Broken Frame and did a bangup job with it! Bloody brilliant stuff!
