Scotty’s beamed up

James Doohan is dead. One by one, the old Star Trek actors are going. An end of an era, one might say.

At the same time it is the 36th anniversary of the first Moon-landing. 20th of July, 1969, two men landed on our nearest heavenly body. Neil Armstrong may be the first man to have taken than "small step for man", but I’ll always remember Buzz Aldrin as the first man on the Moon, who urinated there. Now, that’s a claim to fame.

James Doohan was a WWII veteran. He landed on Juno beach on D-Day. He was shot six times: four on his legs, one to his chest and one on the right middle-finger, which was then later amputated. A cigarette case saved his life. Sigh. It may actually save your life, cigarettes, that is.

We landed on the Moon for the first time just little over a month after NBC had cancelled Star Trek. The last time human being touched another ground besides our Earth, was in December 14th, 1972. Eugene "Gene" A. Cernan. Let’s remedy that, shall we. Like we did with Star Trek? How about it?

James Doohan. Montgomery "Scotty" Scott. Rest in peace. You’ve earned the right. Beam me up when I’m done.
