It’s nearly time for the real athletic activity of the summer – the European Championships in Football!
Nearly as good as the World Champs, except that not really since we’re missing team Brasil. Brasil and Argentina, maybe some African nation like Nigeria or one of the Northern countries and we’d have a jolly good WC. Europe is that tough.
This time in Portugal and it looks promising for the home team, though they aren’t the hottest favourites. A good bet nevertheless, even though Sari is muy disappointed with the coaches decision not to include Vitor Baía as the goalie of choice. A big mistake in her book. Personally I’d think Vitor‘s noble aquiline features would block 90 % shots against Portugals goal.
Experts are saying France, maybe Italia. Some are predicting Holland or Spain. Or Portugal. And then there are always them Huns, who somehow manage to flollop themselves to final rounds, no matter how dreadfully boring and inefficient their game looks like (and is). With the Vitor Baía Scandal, Sari is going with the Old favourite.
I’m cheering for Brasil, naturally. Penta campeaos!
Of the teams playing, I’m choosing a black horse – Team Czech Republik. They were most impressive in the qualifying round, soundly beating all opposition (including Holland) and they have a great mix of skill, experience and youthful exuberance. Players like Nedved, Koller, Poborský, Cech, Rosický and Baros are some of the best in the world, and the combination of old and young players might be just the ticket for success. Other than that, I wouldn’t be neither surprised nor too distressed if teams like Spain or Portugal would take the title. I’d be a lot sadder in case Germania, Italia or plummy French would take the honors.

fandom: Ai niin, St. Urhon pub menee remppaan juuri ennen juhannusta ja on kiinni koko seuraavan viikon, joka tarkoittaa sitä että heinäkuun 1. päivänä mafia on evakossa. Asiasta tullee lähiaikoina hieman puntarointia Babek Nabeliin. Vaihtoehtoinen paikka pitäisi siis keksiä ja mieluusti kohtuullisen pian, jotta sitä voisi kertoilla ihmisille. Jos vaikka joku vielä heinäkuussa Helsingissä oleskelisi.
Toinen maininnan arvoinen asia on se, että olen siis taas valtion palveluksessa kuluttamassa työaikaa Kampin työvoimatoimistossa. Viksummat asian jo varmaan osasivat päätellä muutamasta osuvasta kommentistani edelliseen omaan viestiini. Aamuherääminen on edelleen aika raskasta, etenkin kun me emme todenteolla elä enää missään agraariyhteiskunnassa.
